By mid-March, the water bodies of the Astrakhan region were free of ice, and amateur fishermen went fishing. A mass arrival of amateur fishermen who arrived at the water bodies of the region from other regions of Russia was noted already in the third decade of March.
From March 26 to March 31, specialists from the Krasnodar Department of the Azov-Black Sea branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted comprehensive expeditionary research in the Azov estuaries of the Krasnodar Territory: Kulikovo-Kurchanskaya, Kulikovo-Ordynskaya, Zhesterskaya, Akhtarsko-Grivenskaya groups. The purpose of the research was to assess the effectiveness of spawning of semi-anadromous fish - pike perch and roach.

The Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), with the partnership support of the MELKOM Group, held the Conference "Aquaculture of the North Caucasus. Growth Points and Development Potential." The event took place on April 2 in Vladikavkaz.
From March 31 to April 4, a scientific event aimed at developing interest in science and the chosen profession among students and cadets was held at the Kerch State Marine Technological University. This event was called the "Week of the Faculty of Technology".
On April 2, the central institute of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) held negotiations in a video conference mode between scientists from VNIRO and the Chilean Institute for Fisheries Development. Specialists from the Federal Agency for Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia also took part in the negotiations.
 
The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, among which the most important are joint studies of the state of horse mackerel stocks in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean.
 
The leadership of the Chilean institute also proposed the following topics as possible areas of cooperation:
 
  • comprehensive assessment of fishery resources;
  • assessment of the biomass and abundance of pelagic species using hydroacoustics;
  • study of the dynamics of macroalgae development;
  • study of the dynamics of horse mackerel and giant squid populations;
  • genetics and molecular biology (vaccines);
  • technological developments.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to prepare a draft memorandum of cooperation for signing and continue work on the implementation of promising areas of cooperation.

In the third ten-day period of March, the research vessel (RV) Professor Kaganovsky began a comprehensive research program in the waters of the Southern Kuril Islands and the Sea of ​​Okhotsk. The RV left Vladivostok on its first voyage this year on March 19.

On March 20, 2025, an extended colloquium was held at the Azov-Black Sea branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), where the head of the World Ocean sector of the Kerch department, Alexander Zaitsev, presented a report on the results of scientific observations of the Antarctic toothfish fishery in the high-latitude Ross and Amundsen Seas.
On March 26-27, 2025, the VI International Arctic Forum was held in Murmansk. It is the largest event for discussing topical issues of the integrated development of Arctic territories, developing effective mechanisms for the joint use and development of the rich resources of the Arctic region at various levels.
