The Azov-Black Sea fisheries basin is one of the most dynamically changing in the Russian Federation today. Global climatic changes in the form of an increase in temperature and a reduction in freshwater runoff have led to a radical restructuring of the species composition of the raw material base of fisheries.

From October 01 to October 28, 2023, scientists of the Tatar branch of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO)carried out an expedition to the Kuibyshev and Nizhnekamsk reservoirs at the Vladimir Uskov Research Institute.

On September 22-23, 2023, the scientists of KamchaBranch of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) took part in a comprehensive expedition of the Russian Geographical Society. The purpose of the Kamchatka expedition group was to collect hydrological data, hydrochemical, hydrobiological and ichthyological samples on lakes where "... only a helicopter can fly".

Oleg Goltsev, an observer of the Polar Branchof the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), carried out studies of pelagic fish species on board the MK-0378 “Kapitan Nazin”trawler from June to September in the waters of the northern part of the Faroe Fishing Zone and the open part of the Norwegian Sea.

On September 12, the VIII Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) hosted a discussion "The World Ocean: Global opportunities for the Russian Fleet", which was attended by Kirill Kolonchin, Director of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO).

Kirill Kolonchin, Director of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), Doctor of Economics, takes part in the business program of the VIII Eastern Economic Forum, which takes place from September 10 to 13 in Vladivostok.

On September 1, VLADIMIR USKOV, a scientific research vessel of the Tatar branch of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), went to the Rybinsk reservoir within the borders of the Yaroslavl and Vologda regions.

Employees of the Novosibirsk branch of the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted observations of fish stocks of ichthyofauna on the largest lakes of the West Siberian fisheries basin - Chany and Sartlan. The research was carried out on fishing vessels.

Scientists of the Volga-Caspian branchof the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) continue to participate in environmental projects aimed at preserving the ecosystem of the Caspian basin.

In July of this year, the Sirius Educational Center hosted the festival of scientific and technological projects "Big Challenges".  The main goal of this large–scale event is to help talented young scientists realize their creative potential and get involved in conducting promising research.
