In early October 2024, the Scientific and Experimental Aquaculture Complex "BIOS" of the Volga-Caspian branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) released 215 young Russian sturgeons with an average weight of 35 grams into a water body of fishery importance (the Bakhtemir River) to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat.

On October 8, the First International Russian-Chinese Scientific and Practical Conference "Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture of the Amur River Basin" began its work at the site of the Khabarovsk branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).
