Every year, the Volgograd branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) constantly collects information on the distribution, abundance and reproduction of aquatic bioresources, as well as the state of their habitat in the water bodies of the Volga-Caspian fishery basin.
On November 28, a round table meeting on the topic of "Development of Don Aquaculture. Legislative Aspect" was held in the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region.
On November 26, 2024, the STM Atlantis moored in the port of Conakry (Republic of Guinea) as part of the Great African Expedition.
Modern achievements in the field of cryobiology make it possible to solve practical problems of aquaculture development and conservation of biodiversity of aquatic biological resources. Cryopreservation technologies for fish reproductive products and their low-temperature gene banks are necessary for long-term preservation of genomes and further use of heterozygotes in populations of restored species.
On November 28, a meeting of the Far Eastern Basin Scientific and Industrial Council (FEBSIC) was held in Vladivostok under the chairmanship of the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov. The Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako took part in the work of FEBSIC.
The Tyumen branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) continues fisheries research in Taimyr.
In the second half of the 20th century, our country accounted for over 90% of the world's sturgeon stocks and 80% of the catches. The Sea of Azov ranked second after the Caspian Sea. The contribution of the Azov basin to the total world catch of sturgeon fish was more than 5%.
For a long time, pike perch was the most common of the valuable Azov commercial fish. The predominant form was the semi-anadromous pike perch, which spent most of its life at sea and only entered the lower Don basin and the Azov estuaries for spawning.
In the second half of November, monitoring studies were completed on the watercourses and reservoirs of the Volga River delta and avant-delta (Main, Belinsky, Karaysky banks), including fishing areas and fish reception points, where a full biological analysis was carried out and mass measurements of semi-anadromous and river fish species from commercial catches were taken.
The expedition organized by the Azov-Black Sea branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) on inland waters of the Donetsk People's Republic has ended. The expedition lasted 8 days.
