Specialists from the Magadan branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) have begun preparatory work for annual studies of the spawning migrations of Pacific herring, delineating the boundaries of its spawning grounds and spawning conditions this year.
From April 16 to May 6, 2024, the R/V Vilnius participated in the Russian survey of pelagic fish in the Barents Sea and the Exclusive Economic Zone of Russia.
From April 22 to 28, specialists from the aquaculture laboratory of the Ural branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted the next stage of field scientific research at the Yuzhnouralsk reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region.
Recreational fishing is a popular and widespread form of active recreation among the local population and guests of the Kamchatka Territory.
On April 22, 2024, specialists from the Novgorod branch of VNIRO, together with the department of state control, supervision and fisheries protection for the Novgorod region, went to the river. Sokovaya in the area of the village of Novaya Melnitsa, Novgorod district, to check information posted on social networks about an oil spill into the watercourse.
 
As part of the survey, samples of hydrobiological material were taken to assess possible damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat. Desk processing of samples is carried out.

Smelt fishing on Uka

The scientific expedition of specialists from the Kamchatka branch of "VNIRO" ("KamchatNIRO") to the favorite fishing spot - the river - has ended. Uka (Karaginsky district).
Employees of the laboratory of marine and freshwater fish of the Sakhalin branch of VNIRO traditionally monitor the state of capelin and Pacific herring stocks.
During the period from April 10 to April 11, 2024, specialists of JSC “Agency “Agriculture” (Vologda) underwent additional professional training under the program “Modern aspects of feed production and feeding of aquaculture objects.” Classes were held in the department of feed and feed components of the Central Institute of VNIRO and on the basis of the Branch for Freshwater Fisheries (VNIIPRH).
The Freshwater Fisheries Branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution VNIRO (VNIIPRH) successfully completed activities within the framework of the VNIRO project “Vacations in Rybnoye”.
