Every year, the “Elistinsky” department of the Volga-Caspian branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducts research on spawning grounds off the Kalmyk coast of the Northern Caspian Sea to assess the effectiveness of natural fish reproduction, which depends on fluctuations in water levels, mainly changing under the influence of surge winds in the shallow western part of the Northern Caspian, the temperature regime and the volume of the Volga runoff, which also has a significant impact on the flooding of spawning grounds in the north of this water area.
The Volga-Caspian branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) continues work to replenish the stocks of sturgeon species in the Caspian basin.
In the period from July 11 to 12, as part of the state assignment, employees of the Verkhne-Volzhsky department of the Freshwater Fisheries Branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) carried out ichthyological surveys at the Ivankovskoye Reservoir in the Tver Region.
The competition was organized by the Pacific branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) and took place on the eve of the celebration of Fisherman's Day in the coastal waters of Peter the Great Bay.
