Scientists from the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO are participating in training a new generation of Arctic researchers
From June 25 to July 17, the Arctic Floating University-2024 (AFU-2024) expedition was conducted on the research vessel Professor Molchanov with the aim of conducting comprehensive research in the Barents Sea, as well as on Kolguev Island, and the Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land archipelagos.

Employees of the Magadan branch of VNIRO survey remote rivers of the region
Specialists from the laboratory of ecology of fishery reservoirs of the Magadan branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) have begun expeditionary work on the Tumannaya River, one of the tributaries of the Kedon River, which flows in the northeast of the Magadan Region. VNIRO employees are assessing the power of Pacific salmon approaches to spawning rivers in the Sakhalin Region using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
As part of scientific support for the salmon run in July 2024, employees of the Sakhalin branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) began surveying spawning streams and counting the number of salmon producers using photo and video recording from a UAV in the southern part of Sakhalin Island. The work is simultaneously accompanied by walking tours and assessment of thermal conditions.
