Atlantic salmon (salmon) of the northern rivers is a traditional fishing object for the local population. Salmon is used as a valuable food resource and ensures food security for coastal settlements. However, overexploitation of Atlantic salmon stocks can lead to significant declines in their populations and even extinction of the species.
As part of the “All-Russian Day Without Nets” campaign, the Krasnoyarsk branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), together with the Yenisei Territorial Administration, conducted a raid to search for and remove illegally installed tools for the extraction of aquatic biological resources (nets, merezh) in the Yenisei River.

Recording of migrating juveniles

Researchers from the salmonid fish laboratory of the Sakhalin branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) continue monitoring work to count the migrating juveniles of pink salmon and chum salmon on the rivers of the Sakhalin-Kuril region.
On May 11, employees of the Novosibirsk branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) took part in the annual environmental campaign “Give Life to Fish”, organized by the Regional Public Organization “Novosibirsk Regional Fishing Club”.

As part of the survey, samples of hydrobiological material were taken to assess possible damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat. Desk processing of samples is carried out.
