The work of scientific observers of the Atlantic branch of VNIRO on board the RTMKSm "Captain Bogomolov" of the Eridan company took place in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Mauritania and the Atlantic fishing zone of Morocco in April-September 2022.

The 31st Annual Meeting of the Organization for Marine Sciences in the North Pacific (PICES) with the theme "Sustainability of marine Ecosystems" is being held in Busan, Republic of Korea from September 23 to October 2.

On September 29, the research vessel "Proteus" arrived in Volgograd. The crew and scientific team of the vessel have more than 4.3 thousand kilometers on the Barents and White Seas, as well as on the inland waterways of the European part of Russia.

On the results of the 44th session of NAFO

In the period from September 19 to 23, 2022, the 44th session of the Organization for Fisheries in the Northwestern Atlantic Ocean (NAFO) was held in Porto (Portugal). The session was attended by delegations from 13 NAFO Contracting Parties: Russia, Canada, Cuba, Denmark (for the Faroe Islands and Greenland), the European Union, France (for Saint Pierre and Miquelon), Iceland, Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Ukraine, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and The United States of America.

In this voyage, specialists of the Polar Branch of VNIRO carry out a unified systematic approach to studying the state of the Barents Sea and adjacent waters.

On the last day of the V International Fishing Forum and the Exhibition of the Fishing Industry, Seafood and Technologies (Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo 2022), a master class "5X5 Looking beyond the horizon!" was held. Students of 5 specialized higher education institutions of Rosrybolovstvo presented the prospects for the implementation of their research projects to 5 industry leaders, who, in turn, gave competent answers to all the questions of interest to students regarding building a career in the fisheries industry.

Specialists of the VNIRO have completed the eighth Russian-Japanese expedition to record marine mammals in the southwestern part of the Sea of Okhotsk.

Scientists of the Polar Branch, together with specialists of the VNIRO central office, conducted a comprehensive survey of Kamchatka crab stocks in the vast water area of the southern part of the Barents Sea (the exclusive economic zone of Russia), where this invertebrate species is currently being fished.

On August 30, a scientific research vessel of the marine class "Proteus" departed from the port of Murmansk in a solemn atmosphere. VNIRO scientists will have to overcome 5 thousand km along the inland waterways of Russia and carry out comprehensive monitoring of the seas and inland waters of the European part of Russia.
