The research vessel of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery “Atlantida” with a group of scientists of the Russian Federal Research Institute Of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), in the year of the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica goes to the Antarctic part of the Atlantic to conduct fishery research.
The research of expedition will take place from November 2019 to April 2020 on the STF K-1704 “Atlantida” which is capable of performing a broad set of Oceanological and biological research in any part of The world’s ocean.
The expedition is a program for performing resource studies of the Southern Ocean ecosystem (the Antarctic part of the Atlantic), the main goals of which are to study the state of Antarctic krill reserves, as well as to develop technologies for its complex processing.
A scientific group of 12 scientists from VNIRO scientists, under supervision of the Senior Scientific, candidate of geographical Sciences - Vladimir Shnar, will conduct acoustic, Oceanological, hydrochemical, ichthyological and technological research.
